Family Program begins at 12 noonSounds of Korea will present an interactive program introducing Korean folk music, changgo drumming and dance to family audiences.

12 noon Pre-concert: hands on demonstrations. Come early so the kids will have a chance to play Korean instrumenta and learn a traditional dance.

1pm Concert with Sounds of Korea

Yi Mae Bang master of the salp’uri (‘spirit cleansing’) Korean dance will make a rare U.S. appearance. Master Yi earned the highest honor for performing arts in Korea when he was designated a “Living National Treasure.”

New York-based Sounds of Korea will perform changgo drumming, folk harvest dances, elegant Buddhist drum dances and Shamanic ritual dance.

This concert is a co-presentation with the Korean Traditional Performing Arts Association.
