La
Cumbiamba Eneyé, New York’s newest interpreters
of Afro-Colombian music of the Atlantic and Pacific coasts of Colombia
perform roots of cumbia and African derived genres such as Gaitas
y Tambores, Banda ‘Pelayera,’ Chirimía,
and Champeta. La Cumbiamba Eneyé’s work
is shaped by musical styles of the popular coastal traditions, which
are an inexhaustible fountain of artistic creativity.
They perform in both a traditional acoustic style and with modern
instruments and arrangements. |
