Title: Ikh hob a nayem glock geshafn (I Made a New Bell)
Transcription: Miriam Isaacs
Translation: Miriam Isaacs

Information: Based on a German song, Kirchenglocken (Church Bells). This is a more cheerful version of Avram Reisen’s Yiddish song Kirchenglocken, while Reisen’s original blames the church for what happens to Jews.

Ikh hob a nayem glock geshafn
tsu ervarten toyte shklafn.
Nisht tsu.. ..nor ts..(forgot).
Heng ikh im oyf,
nisht tsu shrekn nor tsu vekn
di gantse velt fin ale ekn
Rift er mutik, zogt er freylekh
Alts tsum lebn oyf

I made a new bell,
to awaken the dead slaves,
Not to.. but to sing.
I hang it up,
not to frighten but to awaken
the whole world, from all ends.
It calls with energy, and speaks happily,
to life.
