James Reams and the Barnstormers
Traditional Kentucky Bluegrass

“...delightfully unadorned 1950s-style bluegrass that draws heavily on,yet doesn’t mimic, the best-loved bands of that era.” - Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine

Originally from eastern Kentucky, James Reams and the Barnstormers give soulful, exciting performances of straight-up, no-nonsense bluegrass. This is a thoroughly traditional band whose original tunes, perfect three-part harmonies, and well-selected time-honored pieces make no accommodations for modern sounds. Featuring the instrumentation of vocals, guitar, mandolin, fiddle, banjo and upright bass, James Reams and the Barnstormer’s driving rhythm and hard-edged harmonies transport you back to a time before bluegrass was smoothed out for the uninitiated or the faint of heart. This group plays traditional music with an old-time country edge, and a sound that’s very much their own. Dirty Linen says the Barnstormers are “sure to delight any Bluegrass fan,” and Sing Out says “...unaffected Monroe-style quality that bends to capture the mood of each selection.”
